NB Medical Education is delighted to introduce in 2010 a new, one day ENT course for GPs. This is our first step in providing GP-led, specialist courses to run alongside our extremely popular Hot Topics GP Update Course. Our vision is that the Hot Topics course will provide GPs with their general, annual update on the literature and that we will also develop GP-led courses for the common specialities that may be highlighted as learning needs in your Personal Development Plan.

Dr Rakesh Chopra is a GPSI in ENT. Trained in ENT, he now works as a GP as well as running weekly ENT clinics. He has developed pathways and models in ENT in Primary Care that are used at various parts of the North West and Midlands. He has taught numerous lectures and workshops on ENT in General Practice for various PCTs and the RCGP, and his courses have received outstanding feedback. Rakesh is also a GP tutor for the University of Liverpool, and is a GP appraiser and qualified trainer.

This is a full day, interactive and fun course. Rakesh covers a vast array of important conditions in ENT seen in General Practice using picture slides, videos, animations, case discussions, and some practical demonstrations.

Dr Simon Curtis of the Hot Topics GP Update Course states: ‘Rakesh is an excellent teacher and very experienced ENT GPSI. He understands what we need to know in primary care. I learnt a huge amount from his course, and went back to work not only actively looking forward to seeing ENT problems but feeling much more confident about diagnosis and management. I am also sure this course will reduce my ENT referral rate. If you feel under confident in diagnosis and management of common ENT conditions, or have a high ENT referral rate, this course is ideal for you.’

Topics covered will include:

Otology Rhinology Laryngology
Otitis media Epistaxis Hoarseness
Otitis externa Sinusitis Sore throat
Glue ear Rhinitis Neck lumps
Tinnitus Nasal obstruction Globus
Vertigo Nasal polyps Oral lesions
Sudden deafness Blocked Nose

…and other topics……….and recent advances!!.....and Red Flags in ENT!!!
