NB Medical Education is delighted to introduce in 2010 a new, one day Dermatology course for GPs. This reflects our aim to expand our range of courses to provide GP-led specialist courses to run alongside our extremely popular Hot Topics GP Update Course. Our vision is that the Hot Topics course will provide GPs with their general, annual update on the literature and that we will also develop GP-led courses for the common specialities that may be highlighted as learning needs in your Personal Development Plan.
Dr Simon Clay has been a Hospital Practitioner in Dermatology for the last 17 years. He is also a full time GP in North Birmingham.
He has run educational sessions on Dermatology for many years, for various medical & paramedical audiences including Nurse Practitioners, GP Registrars and GPs.
He is also an honorary lecturer in the Pharmacy department of Aston University where he lectures regularly on Dermatology to training Pharmacists and on an extended Diploma course for qualified Pharmacists.
He has previously been a GP trainer & has a strong belief in Dermatology education for GPs, by GPs.
The case mix of Primary care Dermatology is quite different to that of secondary care.
Simon's interests lie squarely in covering the key areas of Dermatology that GPs see in their clinical practice.
His talks focus on the common Dermatological conditions that present to GPs daily and aim to aid the accurate diagnosis & practical management of those conditions.
As a GP himself, he is well placed to know what fellow GPs want & need to know about skin conditions.
Conditions covered on the course include:
Acne,
Atopic, Seborrhoeic & Contact Eczema,
Psoriasis, (including its management in scalp & flexures.)
Facial rashes,
The Pityriasis rashes.

& several other areas.
